Dog from Germany
REFUSED
The Minister of Agriculture declared Bali a rabies quarantine zone and prohibited the import, export and transit of dogs, cats, monkeys and similar animals to and from it; the decree lapses only 6 months after the outbreak ends. The Governor of Bali closed entry of these animals the same month, and the provincial by-law bans bringing them in from outside Bali except for ceremonies, state security, science or conservation.

Breed bans

Leaving Bali with your pet
Request quarantine through PTK Online, bring a veterinary certificate from the national veterinary authority, disease test results, the vaccination book and a protective rabies titer result, meet the destination's rules, and present the pet at the airport/seaport; Barantin then issues the animal health certificate. Not possible from Bali while the rabies quarantine zone lasts.
Vaccination and titer tests for export can be done at veterinary-authority or accredited laboratories in Indonesia.

Good to know
Barantin does not publish one dated rulebook for pets. Its own current summary (March 2026) lists: not from a country with a rabies outbreak, a health certificate from the origin authority, a vaccination book and a rabies titer result, prior notice before departure, and reporting to quarantine on arrival. Embassy pages add a Ministry of Agriculture letter and extra conditions that depend on the origin's rabies status. Confirm with Barantin (WhatsApp +62 811-1920-336) before travelling.
Bali does not accept dogs or cats at all — not from abroad, not from other Indonesian islands, and not in transit.
Two embassy pages say pets that can carry rabies may not enter Indonesia's "rabies-free areas" and name Central Java, East Java, Yogyakarta, Bali, Madura, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). That list does not match other official data (Bali is in a rabies emergency in 2026) and no current official list of rabies-free areas could be opened. If the pet will live outside Jakarta and its surroundings, confirm with Barantin before booking.
